Getting Here and Getting Around
Getting Around Locally
Most local hotels have free parking and getting around outside of town by car has historically been quick and convenient. In recent history, due to increased regional tourism and vehicle traffic some areas are harder to get to and find parking at. When staying in Banff or Canmore leaving the car at the hotel or campground and either walking or using transit are great options to avoid the frustration of finding parking on busy days.
Banff, Canmore & Lake Louise are all served by a regional transit system known locally as Roam. The Roam bus network is widespread within the area and for regional transit. One-way a pricing from Banff to Canmore (or return) is $6.00 for an adult and from Banff to Lake Louise (or return) is $10.00. Local transit within communities is $2.00. It is a great deal and the buses even have free WIFI.

The communities of Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise are all served by taxi services within the respective communities. Most of these taxi services will also go between communities and even to Calgary for a price. The most cost-effective option will always be Public Transit (Roam bus).
